The Artful Arden Estate

A full custom build, The Artful Arden Estate balances refined architecture with moments of personal joy. Designed as a clean-lined, expansive modern lodge, the home called for warmth and artistry to live comfortably within its sophisticated structure.

In the 25-foot grand entry, structural glue-lam trusses were wood grained to harmonize with the oak ceiling panels, transforming a structural element into a cohesive architectural focal point.

Whimsy was introduced with intention. A bedroom for the client’s granddaughter features a hand-painted mural inspired by a small magazine photograph provided by the client. Paired with a custom canopy bed and bespoke rug, the space became an immersive and joyful retreat. In the kitchen, a framed chalkboard mural incorporating her granddaughter’s favorite things adds playful lightness while remaining perfectly at home within its refined surroundings.

Even the garage spaces were transformed. What began as a simple request for “some bubbles” evolved into a large-scale installation of iridescent, hand- painted bubbles floating across walls and ceilings — transforming utilitarian spaces into something unexpected and welcoming her home each day with color and delight.

This is the fourth home I have created with this client. She has an exceptional eye for quality and craftsmanship, yet her spirit is joyful and unafraid of color. The true art of this estate was in honoring both — allowing sophisticated architecture and lighthearted expression to exist effortlessly together.
