Serrano Sanctuary
A complete remodel for homeowners who had cherished this residence for three decades, Serrano Sanctuary was envisioned as a refined, deeply personal retreat layered with texture, warmth, and art.
The interior designer masterfully utilized rich textiles and nuanced materials, while my role was to extend her vision through custom finishes and artwork that harmonized with her vision.
In the dining room, a woven wall finish in a gray-green ground with a soft white weave and subtle gold confetti brings texture and luminosity, complementing the original bronze drapery and gorgeous dining furniture. The clients, devoted art collectors, entrusted me to create two custom oil paintings for the dining room, as well as a 13-foot abstract triptych for the stairwell. Each piece was designed for their setting: the oils float-framed in walnut to integrate with the new bar cabinetry, and the triptych framed in bronze to anchor the entry stairway’s vertical space.
The primary suite features a seamless matte metallic “woven” finish in layered whites, wheat, soft gold, silver, and bark tones, which offers the depth of grasscloth without visible seams — a lovely backdrop to the art while maintaining serenity in the space.
Lastly, a vertically brushed metallic plaster in champagne tones provides the powder bath a refined transition, reading both contemporary and classic.
The result is a home that is not just a display of life long collections, but truly a special sanctuary of architecture and art in harmony.
