The Kitchen

When Sacramento’s landmark Michelin- tarred restaurant, The Kitchen, unveiled its new location, the vision was to elevate its interactive farm-to-fork experience through sophisticated European design and regionally inspired art. Shauna was commissioned to create a collection of paintings and a large-scale mural celebrating the Sacramento Valley’s luminous sunsets and twilight skies.

The entrance is anchored by a dramatic 5-by-7-foot landscape of glowing foothills, and sets the tone for the evening. At the bar, a 30-foot mural washes the space in soft twilight hues — a silhouetted horizon with hills lit by the sun’s final light.

Throughout the restaurant, additional oil paintings —rendered in a vintage en plein air spirit infused with Shauna’s contemporary style — form a private gallery honoring her deep connection to her native Sacramento.
